Daddy Dance

The Daddy Dance was so cute. Jason and Madeline were fabulous. Jason was worried following the practices because he said that Madeline didn't really pay attention. However, during the actual recitals, she did a great job. They looked so happy together! To our surprise, Jason and the other daddys had a solo after the fathers and daughters danced. They performed to "Soul Man" and did a Blues Brothers-type routine. Some of the dads were doing backflips and splits. It was amazing. I never knew that Jason could dance like that. What a special event that I will always remember.

Puppy Cuties

Madeline's first routine was "Puppy Cuties." She was dressed as a poodle, as you can see, with white ruffles everywhere. When she came out on Friday night to perform in the first recital, she was a bit overwhelmed by the size of the audience. She had her hands over her eyes, shielding the bright lights, as she scanned the audience for Jason and me. She finally saw me, I waved, and from then on out, she danced. I could see her lips moving to the song, and I could tell that she was having a great time. The next two nights I got to see her from backstage. She was very comfortable. Here are some pictures on stage and off.

Live Love Laugh Dance Starring Madeline

This was Madeline's first year of dance and first dance recital. She worked

hard and never complained. The past two weeks have involved, basically, living out of the car and going to dance rehearsals. The result? The recital was beautiful, and Madeline has become quite the little dancer!

Dress Rehearsal, Here we come!

Wow, who knew that preparing for dance recitals takes over your life completely??? All of our spare time, for the past two weeks, has been devoted to going back-and-forth to Ponchatoula and Southeastern Louisiana University. So far, no complaints from Madeline. Maybe she is preparing to be a Broadway star. All of this preparation seems like more than what a performer of that caliber needs. Jason is gearing up for the dance that he is to do with Madeline. I can't wait to see that dance. More to come in the next few days regarding the dance recital. There are three performances...one this Fri and two on Sat.

A Photographer in the Making

Madeline's Uncle Jamie and Aunt Lesley gave her a kid-tough digital camera for Christmas, and she has just recently taken an interest in making pictures of her own. It is so cute to see her taking pictures of things whether it be plants, pictures of pictures, televisions, toys, or whatever. Here are some of her pictures from vacation.

Gulf Shores...

Now on a much happier note, we had a great time in Gulf Shores. Madeline and I went down with my mother-n-law. Our condo was so nice, and Jason's brother, his wife, her mother, my niece, and Jason's grandmother were next door. This was Madeline's first trip to the beach. She was intimidated by the waves, at first, but quickly warmed up to them. She loved searching for shells, playing in the sand, and wading out into the waves, but, most of all, she loved the hot tub. The first thing that she told Jason when she got home was, "Daddy, I want a hot tub." The trip could not have come at a better time. I also got to visit with one of my best friends that I haven't seen in a couple of years, Jessica, and her daughter. It was wonderful catching up and talking about old times.
